Basic Posture – Dandasana

Dandasana is considered the basic seated posture. All seated postures originate from Dandasana.
Obtain a heavy, folded blanket, and seat yourself comfortably on the blanket with your legs stretched straight in front. Now, lengthen your spine and flex your feet, allowing your heels to come up off the floor.You should be working your thighs as your flex your feet.
Support your spine by placing your palms on the floor. Your upper body should be erect and your shoulders relaxed.
Try to hold this pose for one minute at first. Lengthen the time with practice.
